Service Description
We will meet at the historic and beautiful "Gross Cloche"-Bell Tower Gate. (Corner of Rue Victor Hugo & Rue St James) From there we will wind through the vibrant historic streets of Bordeaux - discovering hidden squares and charming back streets. As we wander by the city's classic landmarks & hidden gems of bygone eras, I will share with you Bordeaux's rich and dynamic history, including how it evolved around the wine trade. The tour will zig-zag through the St. James quarter, Place du Palais, Place Saint Pierre, the key side along the river, the Place du Parliament, Place de la Bourse and ending around the Place de la Comédie. As we wander through like a local, I will introduce you to our local special pastry, the canelé for tasting and describe how it came to be. Tour includes seeing the following sights: La Grosse Cloche - Historic Medieval Bell Tower Gate on Southern side of City St. James Quarter - neighborhood between Grosse Cloche and Rue Alsace Lorraine Place du Palais - Historic square flanked by the historic Porte Cailhau Place de la Bourse - Historic entrance of City from the river - Statue of 3 graces. St. Catherine Street - Longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe Place de la Comedie & Opera House/Grand Theater Monument des Girondins - Place Quinconnces To finish our tour, we will visit a lovely local wine bar which serves only regional wines by the glass and rotates their offerings on a monthly basis. There, you can choose a glass of one of our local wines & we will speak more about the different wines of Bordeaux - red, white, sweet, dry & sparkling. I look forward to sharing with you from an insider's view, additional local specialties and interesting shops personalized for your needs. Tours start at 10am or 2pm depending on day and availability. Tour is privately booked by group. Pricing is up to 4 people - additional persons - 25 euros/each. Max group 10. Included in the price is a canelé & a glass of wine at the local wine bar. Leisurely walking tour - will adjust to pace of clients It is best to wear comfortable shoes—and an umbrella if rain is forecasted
