We’re taking you to the charming vibrant Chartrons district. You’ll learn about the people who made the Bordeaux wine trade, how they lived and how they worked. You’ll discover what really set Bordeaux wine apart and on the path to international success. Come stroll with us through the cobbled streets of the old wine quarter and learn more about the bottlers, the coopers, the wealthy merchants, the label printers and the warehouse and dock workers who lived here. Hear about the local boy who became America’s first ever millionaire. At the same, discover some of the most courageous and daring war stories ever. They took place here, when the city was occupied by German troops from June 1940 to August 1944. Learn about the man who saved thousands from the Holocaust, the British special agents and the most daring raid of WW2 and the love story that saved the city from destruction at the end of the war. Throughout this tour you’ll be soaking up the atmosphere of modern chic French city life. The wine trade has for the most part left the district and the French millennials have moved in. This is the city Parisians leave Paris for! We’ll finish this tour “en terrasse” (weather permitting) with a petit espresso at a local cafe.
